Country Risk Management:Country Risk Management is part of IB Risk Management, under the management of the Head of Global Risk Management.
The group has three main focuses:
sovereign rating analysis and advisory, country risk management and methodology, and related technology and policy advancement.
Rating Analysis and Advisory:
Analyzing economic and political risks the firm faces as a result of its activities outside the US and assigning internal sovereign credit ratings to countries to which the firm has exposure.
Periodic visits to key countries, meeting with the firm's country managers and conducting meetings with government officials may be necessary.
The group also actively advises EM governments on their public ratings.
The group works closely with a handful of governments to help them manage the public ratings process.Risk Management:
Developing methodologies for country risk measurement and establishing parameters for proper measurement, such as country correlations, market shocks, unified exposure measures, sovereign default probabilities and transition matrices.
Limit monitoring, reviewing and reporting is done in coordination with Country Risk Reporting.
Assisting regional analyst in risk capture, limit enforcement and, review, identification and assessment of complex products/transactions and new business proposals in the form of: (i) appropriateness; (ii) risk/return; (iii) risk capture metrics, country limit impact and reporting requirements; and (iv) interaction with other stakeholders (Credit Officers, Market Risk, Senior Country Officers, etc.).
Policy:
Defining the scope and framework of Country Risk's activities and operating model within JPMC, including crisis management procedures.

Job description:The qualified candidate will be joining the Country Risk team reporting to the Co-Head of Sovereign Risk Management in New York with the focus on product and market risk analysis, including supporting of the risk management and rating analysis team.
Primary responsibilities would be to help in implementation of a Country Risk stress framework for developed countries.
In addition, they would include supporting the enhancement of the emerging market stress framework and systemic capture of consistent exposure measures across all product groups, businesses and regions at the country level, as needed.
Incumbent would also be responsible for liaising as needed with Market Risk and Technology colleagues, providing market color and keeping abreast of country-related news and capital market behaviors.
The candidate would contribute to the global developed markets and Latin America country analysis and ratings effort.

Specific management responsibilities will include:
Focus on our continued scope expansion into developed markets, including but not limited to refining and implementing a stress scenario for estimating loss relevant to those markets and, as appropriate, extending that platform to measure and limit stress in EM jurisdictions
Leading market based discussions with the Country Risk team, Market Risk and LOBs as appropriate
Ensuring global consistency of exposure measures -- including default exposure with zero recovery -- across all products and businesses globally.

Developing a comprehensive Country Risk stress methodology document
Contributing to rating discussions overlaying a market view, and in LOB risk management practices
Oversight of the development of the country market monitor tools and integration into the Country Risk infrastructure
Conducting research on related market events and how they impact our shock factors including but not limited to implementation of capital and FX controls and market reaction
Reviewing and assessing complex deal implications to capture country usage

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Strong academic background with undergraduate degree in economics or finance
Market risk related experience
Credit risk knowledge
Ability to work well under tight deadlines
Ability to work well within small team environment
Understanding of capital markets and products/securities traded
Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills a plus
Bloomberg terminal experience a plus
