IB Tech – Application Developer – Associate – based London recruitment
As a developer for Global Market Risk IT you will provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing applications within a mature technology environment. You will utilize mature programming methodologies and languages and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques while contributing to the technical code documentation. Knowledge of distributed compute infrastructures is very desirable. Also desirable is a background in Finance. Individuals with sufficient experience and ability may be able to take on leadership roles within the team.
As an Application Developer, you will participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts and team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution. You will participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations; incorporate security requirements into design; and provide input to information/data flow, and understand and comply to Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps. You will also adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing and incorporate Corporate Architectural Standards into application design specifications. Additionally, you will document the detailed application specifications, translate technical requirements into programmed application modules and develop/enhance software application modules. You will participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to predefined architectural specifications; identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues; review and provide feedback to the final user documentation; and train junior members of the team.
The candidate is expected to have experience with agile development practices such as Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration.
Qualifications
Strong software and business systems design, analysis, and development skillsStrong analytical and problem solving skillsExperience in developing and/or supporting 24/7 mission critical applicationsStrong experience of IT work experience (financial industry preferred)Good financial experience preferred.Should be ready to participate in a team development and support of various components of large-scale applicationsStrong demonstrated knowledge of Java and RDBMS concepts (Oracle preferred)Familiarity with distributed computing infrastructures, design patterns, finance, risk management, derivatives, and/or other financial instruments a plusBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology from top-tier school or equivalent.
