JPMorgan's Futures and Options group is one of the largest financial futures and options brokers in the world. The Firm is a market leader in providing research, sales, execution and clearing services to clients on over 70 futures exchanges globally, offering fixed income, equity, foreign exchange and commodity related products. The Futures Options group leverages JPMorgan's global network, setting up direct exchange memberships through local offices. In line with client demand JPMorgan is constantly reviewing the list of exchanges that it offers in order to ensure that it provides clients with access to the exchanges they require.
The IB Core Processing Technology group is a solutions provider for multiple lines of business with JPMorgan, providing Business services across all asset classes. The Core Processing group is a 800+ team of dedicated technologists and home to the Futures Options Clearing Technology group providing clearing solutions to the Futures Options business. The team is also responsible for end-to-end delivery of projects, working closely with our technology partners, business stakeholders, product and finance controls.
The Futures Options group is embarking on a multi-year strategy to transform the business end to end across technology, operations and wider business teams. As part of this initiative Core Processing Technology is now commencing the Futures Options Processing Platform (FOPP) Platform Evolution program. This will cover a number of significant end-to-end programs and projects to evolve and rationalize the current technology stack inline with a Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) strategy. There will be collaboration across multiple teams through the trade lifecycle to achieve these goals and provide significant value to the business. The FOPP platform includes exchange interfaces, clearing, settlements, accounting, data management and regulatory reporting.
Role Description
This role is for a developer who will provide technical support for the Futures Options Processing Platform (FOPP) for Core Processing Technology focused on building out margining settlements services to support futures options asset classes across the globe. The role also includes supporting the existing legacy applications as they are migrated into new platforms as well as the ongoing work slate. Building and managing business relationships across operations, technology finance both regionally and globally is also key to the role. Exposure and experience in the discipline of business analysis is also desirable.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of key functionality to the Futures Options Processing Platform (FOPP) stack working closely with internal technology teams as well as wider Operations, Technology Finance stakeholders. The successful candidate will have to understand the technical architecture, broader system interactions and the underlying business to enable effective delivery of further functionality to the business.
This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to design, build and implement new business services platforms across the globe. There will be broad exposure across multiple lines of business and all JPMorgan Asia locations as part of a leading edge program of work.
The role entails:
- Delivery of software on time and on budget, based on original scope requirements
- Designing software and producing scalable and resilient technical designs
- Driving the delivery of business value via change programs/projects within the futures options clearing technology group
- Digesting and understanding Business Requirements and designing new modules/functionality to meet those needs
- Creating Automated Unit Tests using Flexible/Open Source Frameworks using a Test Driven Development approach
- Develop a strong understanding of the Futures Options business and key functions of clearing, margining settlements.
- Partner with supporting tech leads to develop realistic and achievable project estimates
- Analysis and build within Control, Stability, Resiliency, Capacity Performance areas.
- Testing: Unit, SIT UAT planning and management.
- Robust delivery of code into the production environment with zero tolerance for post implementation issues
- Take part in decisions affecting long range organizational goals strategic planning.
- Proactively look to develop, implement and further development best practices across the group. The areas of focus should include, but not be limited to quality improvement, code reviews, code/architecture standards, code reuse, reduction of support calls, technical documentation and technical design specifications.
Skills
- Relevant university degree, specialized training or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3-5+ years of application development experience
- Confidence with Core Java J2EE with Java 6
- Multi-threaded Programming
- Java Frameworks i.e. Spring; Hibernate
- Proficiency with Development Tools (e.g. Eclipse, Hudson)
- Track Record delivering in an Investment Bank environment
- RDBMS experience preferably Sybase ASE or MSSQL including stored procedures
- Test Driven Development Skills
- Exposure/ competence with Agile Development approach
- Solid experience utilizing Source code control software (e.g. Clearcase, Subversion)
- Desirable: XQuery, MarkLogic, FpML, MQ/JMS, Flex, Maven, Unix shell scripting
- Confidence with Core Java J2EE with Java 6
- Minimum 3-5+ years of technical/business analysis experience (includes documentation of technical design, end-user requirements, designing and writing use cases, component design descriptions and process flow diagrams)
- Experience with design/build tools (Magic Draw, Enterprise Architect, etc)
- Extensive business and data analysis skills
