Airgas is the largest Dry Ice and Liquid CO2 producer in the Southeast and a leading distributor of process chemicals, refrigerants and ammonia products. Duties will include the safe start-up, shutdown, and efficient operation of the Ice Plant.
Coordinate with Plant Manager Branch to ensure production resources match production demand.
Communicate operational status on a continual basis to the Plant Manager. Leads, trains, and disciplines production associates to ensure compliance with Airgas policies and procedures.
Comply with all safety and quality policies and procedures. Identify and facilitate the correction of all safety hazards and quality deficiencies. Operate a forklift on an occasional basis to meet production needs. Supervise a shift floor production staff of 10 people. Supervise different production operations within the same facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years experience in a supervisory role of more than 8 production personnel in an industrial environment. Must be a self starter and able to multi-task. Ability to effectively supervise work teams to meet the production demands. Must have decision making ability to execute company policies and procedures. Organizational skills needed to facilitate inventory management, personnel files, and time management. Previous experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail. Good written and verbal skills and the ability to complete basic reports. Occasional lifting and manipulation of dry ice blocks ranging in weight from 5 - 50 pounds each. Function safely in a noisy environment with safe, but elevated, levels of CO2 vapor present in the facility. Advanced math skills (beyond add, subtract, multiply, divide) to provide input for budgets, cost control, and inventory. Previous knowledge of operating industrial equipment.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent
Associates degree preferred
