III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (CONT’D):
• Perform print production activities including:
Ø Calibrate printers to manufacturer specifications.
Ø Search, retrieve, and import digital files.
Ø Adjust size; evaluate image density, contrast, and color balance.
• Take photographic portraits and pictures for OPS, public relations, and external use.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment ranging from a simple unit to highly complex systems and subsystems in the field of digital, video, audio, and analog.
• Store, rotate inventory, and retrieve bulk supplies to support print production operations.
• Coordinate maintenance and repair of camera and video equipment activities.
• Install and maintain lighting equipment.
• Update manuals with any modifications and document operation instructions and procedures.
• Update and maintain databases as to equipment location, repairs performed, production records, and parts order list.
• Maintain the Visual Evidence Server and ensure proper archiving techniques.
• Respond to imaging inquiries of a technical nature.
• Make recommendations to the supervisor regarding changes as required to standardize, ensure equipment compatibility and to improve performance.
• Provide basic training to all users of OPS imaging equipment.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and current best practices of legal developments relating to digital and multimedia evidence, technological advancements, and new trends and innovations in the field of photography.
• Provide expert witness testimony in court.
• Perform the duties of the Senior Imaging Specialist during supervisor’s absence.
• Perform other duties as required or directed.
IV. STATEMENT OF REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required qualifications are considered the essential minimum qualifications to carry out the duties and responsibilities of a position.
I. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Level of minimum academic or other formal training required which provides the basis for development of the skills and knowledge needed in the position. Level of minimum experience required for the position, including the number of relevant years of experience.
• Two (2) year college diploma in photography, and
• Minimum of two (2) years experience including:
Ø Post processing of digital media as detailed in the major responsibilities section of the job description.
Ø Working with a large array of digital and multimedia equipment
• Experience and formal training in a related field combined may substitute for stipulated requirements.
II. LANGUAGE
Degree of skill needed, i.e. oral fluency, reading and writing ability in one or more languages.
• English – fluency in oral, reading, and writing.
III. JOB KNOWLEDGE
Information concerning facts, theories, systems, practices, regulations and other subject matter relevant to the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Working knowledge of:
Ø General forensic principles and practices
Ø Other forms of physical evidence not related to digital and multimedia evidence such as fingerprints or biological evidence
Ø Computer operations relating to digital photo processing and printing.
Ø Storage, retrieval, and maintenance of digital image files industry standards and best practices.
