In House Attorney

 

Leader Bank, one of the fasted growing banks in Massachusetts, has an immediate opening for In House Attorney.   This position will assist Leader Bank management in all legal, regulatory, and policy matters, as well as other duties as needed.  Founded in 2002, Leader Bank is a $475 million commercial bank with five retail branch locations and two mortgage locations.  Headquartered in Arlington, the bank has branches in Arlington, Belmont, Burlington, and Cambridge.  The mortgage locations are in Burlington and Needham.

 

Responsibilities Include:

·         Review and evaluate all contract agreements, vendor agreements, and lease agreements

·         Review existing service contracts to ensure current compliance and assess the risk level

·         Oversee all policy agreements, including writing, reviewing, and updating all policies, reporting any policy agreement changes to the Board of Directors

·         Assist in the commercial lending closings

·         Oversee bank communication to customers in instances such as delinquencies, missed payments, foreclosures, and overdrafts

·         Maintain constant awareness of changing regulatory environment and the impacts regulatory changes might have on the bank

·         Coordinate the registration and compliance of Leader Bank’s loan officers, as per the SAFE Act

·         Assist in the build out of the loan servicing procedures, to ensure full compliance with all regulations and guidelines

·         Work alongside and perform oversight of any outside attorneys representing Leader Bank

·         Other duties, as assigned

 

Qualifications Include:

The ideal candidate must have a JD and be licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.  Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills are also extremely important.  Experience with RESPA, fair lending, and litigation preferred.

 

Other qualifications include the ability to analyze large amounts of information and to synthesize that information, an ability to effectively manage multiple projects at once, and willingness to be a team player.  The candidate must have integrity and adhere to a high ethical standard.
