As a large firm providing audit services to major national and international clients, PwC is subject to a range of regulatory and professional requirements (local and international) which require it to be independent from its audit clients.
We are seeking an individual with a legal, risk or other professional financial analytical background, for a senior role in the firm's Regulatory Risk area, with a focus on these independence requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Dealing with enquiries from the business about independence matters. These matters could arise from personal independence requirements, or services to be provided to clients which are subject to independence requirements, or business arrangements that the firm is contemplating;
- Supervision and performance of the firm's personal independence compliance testing program which has been designed to audit/test compliance by individuals with applicable independence requirements;
- Maintenance of the firm's independence policies so that they comply with regulatory and professional requirements;
- Preparation and presentation of training in independence requirements to various parts of the firm and oversight of the firm's elearning modules on independence;
- Planning and supervision of the firm's annual compliance confirmation process;
- Supervision of a team that operates the various global independence compliance systems;
- Assisting in the preparation of submissions to regulators;
- Assisting PwC firms in other territories with global independence requirements applicable to them.
- The role is a senior role and will involve working on a daily basis with partners and staff in the firm. The successful candidate will have access to a range of confidential information about the firm and its partners. We are seeking a person who is able to think laterally to find constructive appropriate solutions to the many issues that arise. It is not essential that candidates have experience in independence requirements. We will provide the necessary training.
