Industrial Automation/Electrical Controls Programmer

Successful Northwest electrical contractor seeks full-time Industrial Automation Programmer to develop and oversee assigned projects in Washington, Oregon and surrounding areas.

Position Summary:
Programmer will be responsible for analysis of application/program requirements, the development of control system software and/or control panel specifications that meet industrial customers’ specific needs, pre-installation testing of program or equipment performance, program/equipment installation, quality assurance and follow-up support.

Essential Job Functions:

·         Provides technical expertise in the identification, evaluation and development of cost effective and efficient applications.

·         Ensures development standards are adhered to within the application systems.

·         Performs unit testing to ensure accurate functionality and overall performance on new or enhanced software prior to user turnover.

·         Develops programs and processes in support of business needs.

·         Serves as point of contact for application system problems or outages.

·         Makes recommendations and implements solutions to eliminate future problems and service outages.

·         Performs configuration and implementation of vendor supplied application software.

·         Prepares and revises estimates in support of the project plan and schedule.

·         Assists in managing timely resolution of project issues, and minimizing project risks.

·         Responds to questions regarding design and functionality of current systems and potential new systems.

·         Trains customers with regard to proper usage of programs and systems.

Position Requirements:

·         Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Engineering, or related field preferred; will also consider candidates with equivalent work experience.

·         At least 5 years of applicable experience.

·         In-depth knowledge of systems development methods, information gathering, systems design, database systems and programming techniques.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical and design strategies to non-technical users.

·         Must be able to work independently and take charge of a project.

·         Knowledge in PLC/HMI software and Data Management Packages is required; Proficiency in one or more of the following software or hardware products preferred;

              -Allen Bradley

              -Wonderware

              -Intellution

              -Rockwell

              -Siemens

              -Modicon

              -Westinghouse

              -GE

              -Square D             

·         Attention to detail and excellent follow through skills.

·         Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.

·         Ability and willingness to travel a must.

·         Electrical Industry knowledge and/or experience preferred but not required.
