Industrial Design Engineer
ML Electronics Ltd designs and produces electronic products for a variety of clients focussed mainly on the Medical, Smart Energy, RD and Defence sectors and is now looking to increase its product design capability.
Role Overview:
Development of mechanical product design and development of housings and packaging for electronics product.
Reporting to Engineering Manager
Brief:
Excellent creative and engineering skills are required to develop products that meet our client's ambitious technical, cost and time requirements.
Good written oral communication with presentation and I.T. skills.
Candidates should be practical, methodical, motivated team players.
Key tasks:
- Liaise with clients to develop product concepts and ideas.
- 3D modelling and CAD data generation.
- Produce Concept visualisation for client reviews.
- Liaise with electronics design team to ensure overall product requirements are met.
- Liaise with contractors and partners to produce prototypes.
- Knowledge of design and capabilities of a variety of materials e.g. plastics, metals, carbon fibres etc.
- Understanding of manufacturing process for both prototyping and manufacture.
- Understanding of product ratings and approvals, e.g. IP sealing, CE conformance, any medical approvals knowledge would be beneficial.
- Understanding of design for manufacture.
- Graphic design capability would also be beneficial.
