Position Description

Leads an Industrial Engineering Team. Leads and/or applies Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations. Leads and/or independently develops models, data bases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provides expert analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers). Leads and/or applies extensive industrial engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design teams throughout all phases of product lifecycle, resulting in a robust product design and work statement that meets program requirements. Leads research, design, development, improvement, and implementation of processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the expert application of Lean and advanced Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization. Mentors Engineers and manages, defines, negotiates, and controls the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and direct the use of project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation). Leads and ensures projects are completed within budget, and on schedule. Mentors and leads the use of engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to develop optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products. Mentors and leads the analysis and design of the value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).

Typical Education/Experience

Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Preferred candidate will have an ABET accredited Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in Engineering. Level 3 preferred candidate will have Technical Competencies in 6 or more while Level 4 preferred candidate will have Technical Competencies in 8 or more of the following: Process Modeling, Manufacturing Operations Support, Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical/Trend Analysis/Six Sigma Capacity, Production/Manufacturing System Design, Work Methods Analysis/Time Standards, Planning/Constraint Based Scheduling, Ergonomics Human Factors, Facilities Layout Design, Value Stream/Supply Chain Analysis Preferred candidate must be able to interact with employees to gather data for process improvements. This may include observing and documenting processes, and collecting data in manufacturing areas or in aircraft during various production phases. This requires the ability to walk, stand, and enter into aircraft via steps or ladders as needed. Also, candidate may be in proximity to chemicals when observing/gathering data in an area in the factory where chemicals are in use. This position is within Advanced Developmental Composites Industrial Engineering (ADC IE) both at Tukwila 9.101 and Auburn 17.45 buildings. The ability to work from either location on a daily basis is required. The ADC is leading BCA in the development of composite technologies, support to new airplane/derivative development and emergent production assistance. Unique requirements of this position require include Team Leadership of Industrial Engineers at both Tukwila and Auburn locations. Mentor the Team relative to the BCA IE skills, ADC shop scheduling, business systems and process improvement. Experience with composites is a plus. Boeing Commercial Programs and Fabrication IE leadership experience is a plus.
