Job Purpose:
Develops products by developing design and test solutions; approving prototypes.
Duties:
* Support to a Precision Manufacturing Process by:
1. Specifying manufacturing procedures and design production aids, such as fixtures, gauges, and tooling, to facilitate or improve production efficiency;
2. Developing test and evaluation procedures and processes, including data capturing and detailed reports;
3. Analyzing and developing new manufacturing methods and/or tool to improve product quality and efficiency;
* Develops product design solutions by completing design analysis and calculations; evaluating options; selecting optimum solutions.
* Proves product design by developing test plans; advising assembly laboratory; adjusting design; running performance calculations; maintaining quality standards; approving prototypes.
* Maintains product budget by tracking developmental costs; identifying probable product manufacturing costs; examining least-cost alternatives.
* Maintains iso documentation by recording design, assembly, and test procedures.
* Develops product literature by recording, interpreting, and explaining technical data and performance.
* Provides technical support by providing information and answers to other departments; offering solutions regarding warranty problems.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Skills/Qualifications:
1. Mechanical Engineering Degree or mechanical engineering concentration in similar engineering field
2. Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
3. Thorough knowledge of and several years experience working with mechanical CAD design; Solid Works preferred, Understanding of AutoCad, CAD, CAD/CAM;
4. Direct design responsibility for manufacturing equipment and tools essential
5. Strong knowledge of precision machining methods and processes;;
6. Experience operating and programming CNC lathes and milling machines;
7. Experience with detailed product assembly, final test, and packaging with developing documentation required to meet customer specifications;
8. Experience with complex assemblies using multi-level BOM and familiarity with the use of MRP and JIT manufacturing systems;
9. Thorough understanding of quality control systems and the use of inspection tools and methods. CNC controlled Coordinate Measuring machine experience would be helpful;
10. Strong communication skills to interact with manufacturing personnel, vendors, and customers verbally and in writing;
11. Self-direction, self-motivation, and attention to detail necessary in engineering drawings and customer requirements;
12. Computer proficiency with MS word, Excel, and Outlook;
