The individual in this position is responsible for collaborating with the Operations Team to develop and improve labor production standards for new and existing processes. This person will work closely with the Project Engineering team and be actively involved in all aspects of assigned projects including conception, development, justification and implementation to completion. Responsibilities and prospects for the Industrial Engineer: Conduct operations assessments analysis Analyze the LS (USA) packaging, processing, and warehousing operational functions and determine opportunities for improvements; apply statistical methods and calculations to determine best manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Conduct feasibility analysis to determine areas for cost savings and operations improvements to accommodate production, QA and management requirements in an optimal solution. Develop cost assessments that support proposed solutions to operations. Develop and propose viable solutions Develop solutions for improvements to operational functions; work directly with internal customers and technical resources to identify problems and develop viable solutions that address short and long-term concerns. Determine means to reduce material usages, losses and rework. Present to management factually supported solutions that include return on investment and the benefits of implementing proposed solutions for improvement. Project Coordination Work closely with cross functional teams to set up operations for new products and packaging lines in an optimal manner. Coordinate with the Project Engineering team to implement and execute improvement projects and solutions which are identified. Draft and design layouts of equipment, production lines, and workspaces to illustrate maximum efficiency and safe operation. Develop follow-up programs to verify and maintain the achieved savings, to detect further opportunities, and ensure the overall continuity of the project. Miscellaneous Work with Supervisors, operators, technical resources, equipment vendors and/or outside resources to develop training procedures for new equipment or production methods. Work with operations to maintain and improve the data collection process for key performance factors and reports. Education and experience for the Industrial Engineer: Minimum 5 years experience in industrial engineering project management with at least 2 - 3 years in a food manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience utilizing Industrial Engineering tools and operations improvement methodologies. Master?s or Bachelor?s degree in Industrial Engineering. Equivalent experience may be used to diminish the degree requirement. In-depth understanding of food technology preferably chocolate manufacturing processing and packaging is a plus. Ability to analyze, develop solutions, and initiate improvement projects for the operation with minimal supervision.
