Sleep Innovations is a leader in the design and production of memory foam sleep products - with a special emphasis on pillows, mattress toppers, and mattresses. In addition, Sleep
Innovations creates memory foam accessories - for dorm rooms, bedrooms, leisure and
travel.  We are searching for a results driven, self starter to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Drive continuous improvements thru Kaizen process and TPS tools and drive the elimination of the 8 basic wastes from all operations. Candidate must have a take charge approach, a can do mind set, and thrive in a fast paced consumer product manufacturing environment.  This position is located in West Chicago, IL.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

1. Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of processes and related equipment.

2. Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, SOP’s, Visual Tools, Poka Yoke and quality criteria, training team members and evaluating results.

3. Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

4. Confer with sales, planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.

5. Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.  Including the development of all ROI’s for plan approvals and the creation of the CER’s required to implement that plan.

6. Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency utilizing Six Sigma philosophies and process

7. Represent manufacturing/engineering on cross-functional teams.

8. Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control.

9. Study operations sequence, material flow, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.

10. Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

• B.S. degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

• Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques including Six Sigma Certification (Black Belt preferred), intimate knowledge of the Toyota Production System, SMED and root cause analysis tools preferred

• Project Management: ability to organize and manage multiple products through manufacturing process
