Industry and Business Development Lead recruitment

Within this role you will have the opportunity to provide a detailed input into departmental strategy for securities processing, to represent the company in external forums and ensure that its interests are appropriately presented. A deep understanding of the processing environment of Cash securities, in particular expansion of electronic matching and affirmation, shorter settlement cycles and increased regulation will be key components of the role.

A key function of this group is to provide stakeholder update to demonstrate the changes facing the and articulating it’s response. Engaging with key stakeholders will be a critical component of success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
The role will form part of the Cash Equity Trading product group within the operations organisation, reporting into the European Head of the CET Product.

• The key responsibilities for the role will be focussed on understanding the strategic direction of the securities markets, identifying key challenges to existing market practices and using this input to help define, agree and implement product strategic direction.
• You will represent the company at external forums (AFME, Swift, Omgeo) and be capable of articulating a house position on specifics functions / services / practices. Communication of these sessions to internal stakeholders will form a key part of this role.
• In addition is it expected that a wide network will be established with peer brokers, and regular discussion held. The intention of this is to capture differences in view / approach to market developments, and to identify opportunities to refine strategic approach if necessary.
• Working closely with colleagues in strategic architecture will be key to success. The scale of change due in the medium term will require many changes to existing infrastructure, and input into strategic and business technical architecture will be a key deliverable.
• Through attendance at various forums it is expected that an understanding of vendor solutions and their suitability to the company will be defined from a cross product perspective. This would include the management of vendor relationships.
• In addition you will be expected to provide support to the Equity business for settlement related issues and queries. This will be focussed on ensuring performance of Smartsourced activities achieves required standards, and that identified strategic changes are communicated to receiving locations. A degree of involvement in front to back control oversight is also expected.

You will interface across many teams and role types including:
• Industry practitioners (peers, vendors, clients).
• Senior management across the business.
• Project Managers.
• Business and IT developers.
• Run the Bank (RTB) / Subject Matter Experts (SME).

You will have:
• Proven experience in investment banking middle office or operations or project / process environment.
• Excellent Product knowledge.
• Strong relationship skills.

• Project lifecycle understanding.
• Business and Product knowledge / trade lifecycle.
• The ability to define and visualise future state solutions.
• Workflow / Process reengineering capabilities.
• Proven technical understanding of business processing of securities products.
• The ability to formulate strategic goals, and to gain sponsorship for these.
• Business process reengineering skills.
• Flexibility and engagement with the ability to work under pressure .
