SUMMARY:
The Industry Outreach Assistant establishes working relationships with various companies throughout the entertainment industry. Through different mediums, this position connects with the Industry to obtain job leads, internship information and current employment opportunities. This position meets with current students as well to provide the support services offered through the Artist Career Services Department. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary (seasonal, as needed) position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contact industry professionals and entertainment based companies via telephone and e-mail to gather career related information such as job leads and other pertinent information.
- Update and maintain industry outreach database.
- Assist in the preparation of all departmental employment directories as deemed fit.
- Assist students and alumni with resumes and other promotional materials.
- Revise and update all departmental employment advisories
- Maintain good work habits including but not limited to attendance, following MI workplace policies, being responsive and following through on all student, supervisor and staff requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and Essential Skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, and/or students is a must.
- Minimum of four years excellent customer service experience, including two years of phone (cold/warm calling) experience.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute.
- Enjoy dealing with people, and be able to work with a diverse group of students and employees in a positive manner.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, and multi-task in a busy environment.
- Ability to work in an organized and timely fashion on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Highly collaborative, curious, creative and values teamwork.
- Must also be diligent, helpful and trustworthy.
Required Functions:
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to sit at workstation, type and work with a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently operate office equipment including telephones, copiers, fax machines, and computers.
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds for short periods of time.
- Requires being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to travel to, within and around a variety of locations, both interior and exterior for meetings, events and other job-related activities.
Education and Certifications:
Undergraduate degree required with focus preferred in English, and/or Arts Education or equivalent course work and work experience.
Experience with various computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. HTML and website experience desirable.
Previous experience in event planning a plus.
