Industry Research Analyst
Capital Southwest Corporation is seeking a skilled Industry Research Analyst, based in Dallas, Texas, to work with our investment team. The Industry Research Analyst will monitor and analyze trends and developments within a defined industry set and identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.
Key responsibilities:
· Manage the process for gathering and organizing information related to industry trends, technology developments, corporate announcements, government regulations, etc.
· Maintain a database of industry participants including operating companies, executives, consultants, intermediaries, capital providers, trade associations and lobbyists.
· Assist with the development and execution of outreach campaigns to facilitate communications with industry participants.
· Identify and track companies that meet Capital Southwest’s investment criteria, including initial screening through conversations with management of investment prospects.
· Participate in the evaluation of investment opportunities.

· Excellent analytical and research abilities, including the identification of information resources.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to gather and analyze information to identify trends, and summarize findings in succinct presentations.
· Experience with database organization and management.
· Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and capable of prioritizing assignments.
· Motivated, self-starter with intellectual curiosity and a commitment to quality.
· Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
· Well-developed interpersonal skills.
· Available for moderate travel to attend industry conferences and meet with management of prospective investments.
Deliverables:
· Establish the processes, key information resources and software tools required to support an industry research program.
· Develop and maintain a database of industry participants, including specific tracking of targeted investment opportunities.
· Manage on-going outreach program to industry participants.
· Produce periodic summaries of industry trends and developments for use by the investment staff.
· Create company-specific analyses addressing an investment prospect’s industry positioning, competitors, relative strengths and vulnerabilities, and factors influencing its market.
Education and professional experience:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Two to four years in an industry or market research-oriented role.
· Background in the chemicals, energy services, filtration and/or water industries is a plus.
