Informatics Terminology Specialist

Kaiser Permanente's Convergent Medical Terminology (CMT) Team is looking for a seasoned terminologist to join our dynamic team. CMT team builds and maintains the enterprise vocabulary system and is working on some exciting projects including supporting clinical terminology for our KP HealthConect (Electronic Health Record), as well as working with U.S. Government and IHTSDO (International Health Terminology Standards Development Organization) to expand the adoption of SNOMED CT and other standard terminologies. We are looking for someone to manage the content and process for external deliveries such as IHTSDO and U.S. Government.
Essential Functions:
- Works on various terminology projects, authoring/modeling terminology, and issue research and management.
- Understands Reference Terminology components and structure.
- Models/defines concepts in the Enterprise Reference Terminology System
- Understands/familiar with SNOMED modeling
- Coordinates works of other modelers to create deliverables for IHTSDO and NLM
- Works with IHTSDO and NLM to arrive at agreed upon terminology strategies as needed
- Works with the Technical team to create automated processes for detecting and delivering updates
- Works with various tools, such as Terminology Tool, Access, Excel, as needed.
- Other works as needed and directed by CMT director.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 4 additional years of related experience.
- Senior-level professional experience in all aspects of terminology modeling/authoring.
- 5 years of experience with SNOMED
- Clinical experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in solutions consulting including defining requirements, developing solution alternatives and estimates and translating client's business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for large complex IT solutions.
- Experience in MS Access, Excel, Word, Windows 2000 or NT.

Preferred Qualifications:
- RN, Physician or Pharmacist.
