Position Overview: The Information Architect provides leadership in the strategy, planning and design of information systems to deliver reporting and analytics data. This position will report to the Director of Merck Consumer Care (MCC) Architecture and Business Development within the MCC-IT group. This individual will work closely with the MCC-IT fanchise leaders and business leaders to: assess the current state; utilize and, where appropriate, evolve Merck's information reference architectures; and develop and align target state and roadmaps with the MCC business strategy. He/she will stay current with both internal and external best practices around information management principles and standards, master data management practices, and emerging trends in the business intelligence / analytics area. This individual will be considered a leader in information architecture, information standards, business intelligence, and analytics. Primary Activities: * Serve as a senior information architect supporting the strategy and planning of information management solutions for various business functions across MCC * Create high-level designs and oversee development of information management solutions for key functional areas within MCC. * Lead the definition of an information management refrence architecture based on industry bset practices * Partner with the Global Enterprise Information Mangement (EIM) shared service to develop and help guide implementation of the reference architecture. * Engage with other divisional information architects to identify and exploit opportunities to share and leverage information and solutions across divisions. * Mentor others in information management, information architecture, business intelligence, and analytics. Qualifications Education Requirments: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience Requirements: * 12+ years of relevant work experience in the area of information management, business intelligence, data analytics, or data modeling. * Demonstrated expertise in information management strategy and planning * Ability to visualize end-to-end processes; understands how information flows through the enterprise and understands the importance of managing information as a corporate asset * Ability to: a) effectively interact with senior leaders to assess business requirements and communicate architecture concepts; b) effectively interact as a leader in a matrix relationship on projects with global implications; c) assimilate business concepts and business rules into information architectures and roadmaps; and d) integrate business, application, information, and technology architectures at a conceptual and logical level and assess appropriate solutions. * Knowledge of integration tools such as TIBCO and Informatica or other similar tools. * Knowledge of Master Data concepts supportive of business intelligence needs * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Working knowledge in at least one of these industry segments is Required: Consumer products, Consumer healthcare, Pharmaceutical, or Vaccines.
