Information Security Analyst Job in Chicago, Illinois US
Job Summary: This applied security position involves the identification, design, implementation of innovative security solutions, processes and procedures. You will be responsible for monitoring, assessing and reviewing vulnerability assessment data as well as intrusion detection information. This role is considered to be an expert in information security and will be required to provide expert level guidance to technical groups, business areas as well as senior management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Evaluation and implementation of security products and/or processes
Ø Incident response activities for security events
Ø Forensic investigation and detailed technical investigations
Ø Monitoring of information security compliance using various security tools
Ø Perform independent research on current and emerging threats
Ø Conducts vulnerability assessments of information systems
Ø Conducts penetration testing and mitigates exposures
Ø Assists in the mitigation of identified vulnerabilities
Ø Consults and provides information security expertise in support of various projects
Ø Performs detailed security reviews of information systems
Ø Performs research and development on Information Security related topics
Ø Develops and maintains hardware and software tools used to support Information Security functions
Ø Assist in the maintenance for security software and infrastructure.
Ø Acts as a technical or security advisor in risk management processes
Ø Performs other duties as assigned
Education Experience
Ø Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or equivalent work experience
Ø 4 or more years of information security experience
Required Knowledge Skills
Ø Technical expertise in systems administration and security tools, combined with knowledge of security practices and procedures required
Ø CISSP certification required
Ø Expert knowledge of UNIX, Windows and networking technologies required
Ø Demonstrated independent decision-making abilities
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication
Preferred Skills
Ø Shell Scripting
Ø Advanced Active Directory security
Ø Familiarity with the major programming languages ie C, .NET, Perl, PHP, Java
Ø Network forensics
