EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Administrative Salary Range C43 with a starting salary of $57,801-$75,142, depending on qualifications and experience. Madison College provides a generous benefits package. Newly hired Administrators serve a two year probationary period.

ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining and enforcing information security policies, standards and procedures. This includes analyzing the College's information security environment, researching and understanding best practices around information security and information technology controls and gathering evidence of violations of policy and/or legal or regulatory requirements to which the College must adhere.

The Information Security Analyst is entrusted with information that is of the highest level of confidentiality, and hence must exhibit the utmost level of integrity and trustworthiness. Should the Chief Information Security Officer be unavailable for any reason, the Information Security Analyst is empowered to make high-level decisions related to the protection of the College's information assets.

This position reports to the Chief Information Security Officer  

Qualifications:
(Education, Experience)
1. Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

2. Five (5) years experience in the security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications and network protocols.

3. One or more information-security related certifications, such as: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) or GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification).

Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

1. Provides consulting services to support client, IT management and staff in risk assessments, implementation and operational aspects of appropriate information security procedures and products. Acts as a liaison to other groups in the implementation of security technologies and controls.

2. Evaluates, tests, recommends and implements appropriate security methods and control techniques including (but not limited to) controls associated with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention software, data encryption, event log monitoring, and vulnerability management.

3. Investigates security incidents originating from both internal and external sources. This includes investigating and reporting of suspected cases of misuse of information or technology assets of the organization, and/or non-compliance with established policies.

4. Performs control and vulnerability assessments to identify weaknesses and assess the effectiveness of existing controls. Determines remedial actions and implements improvements to mitigate risks.

5. Collaborates on critical projects to ensure that information security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle.

6. Defines security configuration and operations standards for security systems and applications, including policy and assessment tools, network security appliances, and host-based security systems.

7. Initiates, facilitates, and promotes activities to foster information security awareness with the College. This includes training junior team members in the use of information security tools, techniques, procedures, and the resolution of information security issues.

8. Evaluates, develops, implements, and enforces security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines for multiple platforms and a diverse systems environment.

9. Participates in the development, implementation and testing of the organization's Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.

10. Maintains an awareness of the activities of external security standard setting groups and of State, Federal and other legislation and regulations pertaining to Information Security. Identifies changes that will affect current policies, standards, and practices of the organization and recommends appropriate changes.

11. Remains informed about the latest developments in the information security field, including new products and services.

12. Works during "off" hours (nights, weekends and holidays) and from remote locations and on short notice if needed to respond to any reported or suspected information security incident, breach, or other emergency requiring immediate attention.

Knowledge of:

d. Policy and procedure development practices;

a. Planning, coordinating, and implementing program components and activities;
b. Researching, analyzing, and applying relevant information to the development of program processes and programs;
c. Analyzing processes and making recommendations for improvement;
d. Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
e. Ensuring compliance with applicable internal and/or external program requirements;
f. Communicating (orally and in writing) information, data, and opinions to inform, influence, and/or persuade a wide variety of individuals and audiences.
g. Communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio¬economic and racial backgrounds.

Ability to:
a. Develop and implement short and long-term plans;
b. Apply and adapt practices, technology and techniques to the special requirements of the department and district through the direction of senior leadership;
c. Establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff, employees, and the general public; and
d. Present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written formats
