Information Systems Engineer
Introduction:
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an Information Systems Engineer.
Job Summary:
Information systems engineer to design and develop applications to support MS, data processing and information fusion for AMD domains. Make critical contributions as part of a multi-disciplinary team employing novel information technologies solutions to address critical national defense problems.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain information systems applications.
Participate in information systems design and development, participate in technical reviews, validate and verify design implementations, and document requirements, design, verification, and user¿s information for applications developed.
Interact with users to gather and evolve system requirements for applications.
Perform software development in a manner consistent with quality processes.

Required Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science or related discipline with 4+ years of experience or equivalent . Strong object-oriented software design and development skills and experience developing in Java and/or C++ and working knowledge of Linux environment . Experience developing software using an agile methodology (scrum, XP) . Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to adapt in a dynamic development environment that includes working with evolving requirements. Demonstrated ability to creatively contribute towards identifying and managing new requirements. Ability to applying technical knowledge of SW methodology, tools, and concepts to rapidly translate concepts into technical requirements. Independent contributor with maturity to own an element of a software task and take responsibility for completion with minimal supervision. Ability to clearly express oneself both orally and in writing. Secret clearance needed.
Desired Qualifications:
MS or PhD in Computer Science or related discipline. Experience with data and information fusion algorithms. Experience developing MS frameworks and integrating models. Familiarity with object -relational mapping (ORM), inversion of control (IoC), unit testing, and logging tools (such as Hibernate, Spring, NUnit, and log4net). Experience with GIS technologies including ESRI's ArcView, ArcIMS or GeoTools desired. Experience with web application technologies such as Servlets, JSP, AJAX, Portlets, Hibernate, Spring, JSF, Struts, Web Services, etc. are preferred. A strong technical writing background is a benefit.
Special Working Conditions: May require occasional travel.
