Information Technology Specialist I / Customer Service & Help Desk Coordinator Job in Newport News 23606, Virginia US

Christopher Newport University invites applications for the position of Customer Service and Help Desk Coordinator with our Information Technology Department.  This is a full-time pay band 4 non-exempt classified position which includes Commonwealth of Virginia and CNU employee benefits. (The anticipated salary range is $31,352 to $43,000 depending upon applicants’ experience and qualifications.)  The Customer Service and Helpdesk Coordinator will be responsible for all facets of ITS customer service as well as assist in screening, referring and diagnosing internal or external inquiries and work requests as they relate to CNU ITS managed and monitored systems. The Coordinator will assist in locating, assigning and overseeing the configuration, maintenance and repair of requests related to Mac and PC hardware and software for faculty, staff, students, classrooms, labs and meeting spaces.  In addition the coordinator is responsible for assisting in compiling, revising and distributing recurring campus ITS communications publications, policies and programs.  Assist the Associate Director of Project Management and Operations and Chief Information Officer with special projects and initiatives.

A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management information systems or equivalent coursework and experience that equates to a Bachelor’s degree; and significant experience in customer service; and experience working in an IT Help Desk environment; and experience in troubleshooting computer hardware, software and basic networking problems; and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows family of operating systems Apple OS and Microsoft Office Suite is required.  Preference will be given to applicants that have all the education requirements plus CompTIA A+ certification; and all required experience elements plus experience in an Academic setting with experience with Google environments.
