Job Overview:

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist provides Help Desk support and network administration (servers, firewall, ISP, and infrastructure).  This requires a strong understanding of both technology and business practices. 

The IT Specialist plans and coordinates activities such as formatting and repairing laptop computers, SQL server maintenance, Exchange server maintenance, SharePoint server maintenance, Deltek Vision server maintenance, management of the Firewall, and supports other activities including the installation and upgrading of hardware and software, and enforcement of security and data backups.  From a knowledge sharing perspective, the IT Specialist is responsible for promoting the use of tools such as Microsoft Office, Deltek Vision, and Microsoft SharePoint and improving reports and other features as requested.

Primary Responsibilities:

Troubleshooting Support

·        Install, maintain, and ensure security of computer operating systems and supporting software (laptops, desktops, and servers).

·        Troubleshoot network, remote access, laptop, desktop, and server (Exchange, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, and SQL) technical difficulties.

·        Provide training and support on network procedures to all network users including orientation of new employees.

SQL Server Administration

·        Ensure availability and performance of the databases that support Microsoft SharePoint and Deltek Vision.

·        Improve and maintain the databases including upgrades.

·        Manage a systematic data back-up, retrieval, and recovery process guaranteeing data integrity and protection for Deltek Vision and SharePoint.

Information Security Support

·        Implement and enforce the Information Security Policy.

·        Maintain server patch management process.

·        Maintain the company firewall.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

·        In depth Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL Server Database Administration experience.

·        Advanced computer usage skills and aptitude.

·        Knowledge of Information Security disciplines to ensure Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of systems and data.

·        Solid working knowledge of Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Anti-SPAM appliances, AV, SIEM, and related technologies.

·        Knowledge of patch management techniques and related infrastructure.

·        Understanding of application layer security within AD Directory and SharePoint.

·        Professional and effective written and oral communication skills in the English language.

·        Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

·        Ability to effectively organize and structure activities.

·        Ability to lead and facilitate multiple activities.

·        Demonstrated loyalty, work ethic, integrity, professional conduct, and ability to manage responsibilities autonomously.

Required Education/Training:

·        A Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.

·        Familiarity with Windows Server 2008 Administration, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 productivity suite.

 Working Conditions:

·        Demand for emergency support may require extended and/or evening/weekend/holiday work.

·        Moderate physical labor to move and install workstations and other hardware.

·        Travel to satellite offices as required to support IT needs and cultivate relationships with IPM colleagues.
