Infrastructure Analyst-Storage Unix Job in Calgary, Alberta Canada
Eagle is currently seeking one (1) Infrastructure Analyst-Storage UNIX. This contract opportunity is slated to begin in April, and is projected to be three (3) months in length.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Auditing the quality of UNIX based systems;
- Performing maintenance on UNIX systems;
- Providing routine UNIX system administration, basic scripting, data/file cleanup and ID maintenance;
- Managing workload from a Service to Client perspective;
- Providing predictable and consistent service to clients and peers;
- Providing second level incident support for internal and external customers ensuring OLAs are met;
- Providing support for internal and external users through User Support;
- Analyzing and deploying security patches within the environment;
- Providing recommendations for environment improvements;
- Executing high availability and failover scenarios for the environment;
- Documenting any Procedures to do with System Support;
- Providing job scheduling/management, office and on-call support for production servers;
- Reporting on monthly server performance logs and tuning metrics;
- Automating routine processes and generating auto-error/paging reporting;
- Reporting on SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) defined security standards and processes;
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with Netapp (Either via DFM or Remedy);
- Working within the NAS infrastructure and toolset;
- Understanding of NAS protocols, NFS, CIFS, iSCSI
- Providing and reporting on daily storage health checks;
- Verifying daily automated database snapshot processes are successful; and,
- Designing Storage solutions based on capacity, continuity, and availability planning.
Skills and Qualifications
The qualified candidate must have:
- A minimum of three years of experience in UNIX and NAS Support, ideally in a large Oil and Gas Company;
- A University degree or technical school diploma;
- NetApp and/or IBM AIX certifications;
- Any level of ITIL certification;
- Strong written and verbal communication;
- The ability to produce readable, current, and correct documentation on all UNIX and NAS systems;
- Server and Storage configurations, installations and management experience;
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities;
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently;
- The ability to perform change management/incident reporting accurately without supervision;
- IBM AIX, NetApp and HP Server hardware experience;
- Back-up methodology experience;
- TCP/IP networking experience;
- Disk subsystem management experience; and,
- Capacity planning experience.
