Will need to know infrastructure very well as it pertains to solution Windows and/or Linux servers, storage, SAN, networking design and have worked with the Application Development groups to build the infrastructure to support the application(s) that sit in the environment. 

 

Once they solution and design they would pass it off to a build team where they will construct and build the solution (servers), etc. and implement it into the environment.

Typically, the Sr. Specialist I level is a subject matter expert in the design, architecture and deployment of new systems to keep the server environment stable and interruptions to a minimum in standalone and multi-tiered environments.

Is highly proficient in at least three Intel based related areas in addition to Specialist Core proficiencies.

Conducts project management activities for new system requirements on various projects for deployment of business functions on new servers.

Transfers knowledge and provides leadership support to Analysts and Specialists in the implementation of new hardware, operating systems and other required software on the systems.

 

The Sr. Specialist I is expected to conduct system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies and work with other professional technical staff in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development.

As new technologies emerge that impact current systems, the Sr. Specialist I is expected to pro-actively learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with our current systems.

Provides advice, training, and 24x7 technical support to customers, users and programmers.

Comprehensive troubleshooting skills.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Significant project management experience and leadership skills. Senior Specialist I must have all of the technical skills required for a Specialist.

Core proficiencies (all must apply).

Possess high level knowledge of the Intel OS internals.

Requires 6+ years experience / proficiency with a variety of Intel systems software. Good customer facing / presentation skills.

Project management experience supporting data centers migrations and major software upgrades.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Sr Specialist must have all of the technical skills required for a Specialist.

Server as a mentor to Specialists and Analysts.

Must possess technical leadership capability.

Possess significant knowledge of the Intel OS internals.

Knowledge of commonly used scripting languages for Windows (VBScript, Perl, etc.).

Acts as Intel systems architect in standalone and multi-tiered environments.

Proficient in Intel and Windows security.

 

 

In an Intel server environment, performs installation, customization and maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support of business processing requirements.

Performs system software installations, system software maintenance and product upgrades.

Evaluate and integrate new operating system versions, drivers and hardware.

Tests software updates and patches.

Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels in standalone and multi-tiered environments.

Conducts system analysis, configuration management and develops improvements for system software performance, availability and reliability.

Perform Incident resolution, Problem Determination and Root Cause Analysis in accordance with Service Level Agreements.

Designs, develops, recommends and implements new or revised system software, utilities and automated processes as necessary.

Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems software/hardware failures and develops solutions.

Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.

Prescribes system backup / disaster recovery procedures and directs recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the operating system or other system components.

Implements appropriate levels of system security.

Provides technical expertise for system Transitions, Migrations and Consolidations.

Provides technical assistance to IT support staff, including but not limited to, DBAs, Network Engineers, Application Developers, Middleware Engineers, other System Administrators, Project Managers, Change Managers and Business Development staff.
