- Knowledge of concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies,
- Thorough knowledge of the organization's IT environment including vendor software and relationships,
- Specific knowledge of the retail line of business and understanding of strategic direction in that business areas is preferred,
- Proven experience in modernizing host legacy based applications into a JAVA-based distributed application stack.

- Specific knowledge in infrastructure technologies/domains including:
- broad mainframe skills (Z/OS, IMS/TM, IMS DB, DB2) are required as there is a significant suite of core retail applications resident on the mainframe,
- Websphere Application Server
- Websphere ESB
- Pega
- Filenet
- Datapower
- AIX/System P
- Data Warehouse and BI
- Storage
- Security
- Development tooling (client wishes to create a software factory environment)
- Automated provisioning
- Possess excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrating an ability to interact effectively with both technical experts and senior executives
