The Infrastructure Solution Integration (ISI) team operates within the larger GTIS Integration and Midrange Services function (GTIS-IMS). The ISI team's primary responsibility is to design Infrastructure IT solutions that meet the business’ non-functional requirements in a cost-effective manner, where possible, based upon existing offerings and standards. In doing so, the team processes infrastructure requests for new infrastructure from the business aligned Infrastructure Service Leads (ISLs). Specifically, the ISI team supports the Business ISL team in reviewing the requirements and ensuring the solution/application design is well integrated in the existing GTIS infrastructure and is both tactically and strategically aligned. The team is also responsible right-sizing and delivering the required infrastructure resources by using the standard GTIS provisioning processes.
Your job, as an Infrastructure Solution Design Specialist, will entail you understanding the key business drivers and the associated infrastructure requirements. You will have a good comprehension of business applications and a strong understanding of the infrastructure technology stack. You will be able to identify the best solutions to meet business requirement in a standard and cost effective manner.
Your job involves:
¨ Infrastructure design, covering primarily server and storage and often including database and middleware solutions with an understanding of infrastructure aspects of BCM/ and disaster recovery. In particular, gathering requirements from clients and designing, building and delivering innovative and/or specialised solutions for specific business requirements which cannot be satisfied by well established configurations.
¨ Interacting with App teams in understanding the business requirements and translate that into technical requirements. Interacting with GTIS Product Management, Architecture and Engineering in seeking for the right technical solution based on the requirements.
¨ Evaluating and testing emerging technologies and vendor solutions in a lab environment, both to gain a general understanding and to determine suitability to specific business requirements and requests, in view of identifying appropriate use cases and providing recommendations on correct implementations.
¨ Managing the ISI UK Lab facility.
Requirements
¨ Strong in-depth understanding of infrastructure technologies, both current and emerging, in the area of server hardware, storage solutions, networking technologies and virtualisation technologies
¨ Familiarity with low latency and high precision time keeping concepts and technologies would be of significant benefit
¨ Customer focus and solid understanding of business application needs
¨ Analytical and problem solving skills
¨ Tech Lead/Project Management
¨ Ability to work independently and within small teams
