Job Description: The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for; maintaining, implementing, and providing a high level of technical support to GTRI's internal infrastructure. The successful candidate will have experience in working in an environment of at least 100 physical and virtual servers. The candidate will also need a strong understanding of Cisco networking in order to implement and maintain network topology around the country. Providing excellent support to level 3 case escalations, troubleshooting complex network and server issues all while keeping great communication between end users and management where applicable. Furthermore, this candidate will provide recommendations on architectural changes and design enhancements to the infrastructure to improve reliability and performance reduce cost and anticipate company growth and acquisition.
- Implement and enforce company and corporate standards in regard to the server/network environment.
- Technical assessments and needs analysis
- Individually must have some baseline knowledge of VMWare ESX, Citrix Xenserver; Microsoft HyperV desired as well, but not required.
- Individual should have a good understanding and hands-on experience with Microsoft core infrastructure components including, but not limited to : Exchange 2007, SQL, W2k3, W2k8, Active Directory.
- Individual must have a good understanding of Cisco Networking.
- The position requires 24x7 on-call support.
- Symantec backup exec 12.5 experience preferred.
- Routinely communicates status of support requests to users and technical support leads
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project preferred.
- Performance tuning of web, application, MS-SQL servers, network and storage devices.
- Handle large projects related to security, audit and compliance including new infrastructure rollouts.
- Research, specify, configure and deploy servers, storage, firewall and networking equipment.
- Ability to create and maintain complex network diagrams
- Excellent team player with good communication, organization and documentations skills.
Education/level of Degree's:
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required
- CCNA, CNNP preferred
- Current VMWare certifications or equivalent desired
- Current Citrix certifications or equivalent desired
- Current Cisco certifications or equivalent desired
- Microsoft Certifications desired, but equivalent experience is acceptable
- 4+ years of engineering experience
