Infrastructure Management Assistant Director
The job entails extensive interaction with a broad range of market participants (at all levels) globally, across all sectors of the market, as well as with technology solution providers and other industry associations. Coordinating and running certain ISDA Committees and Working Groups on a global basis is also a central element of this role. This typically involves organising industry meetings, developing agendas, facilitating consensus amongst member firms, writing minutes and ensuring that the groups deliver results. The individual will also be required to respond to member queries regarding ISDA documentation and initiatives, and participate in regulatory and legal projects where operations input and expertise is necessary. In addition to these diverse responsibilities, the individual will be encouraged to speak at conferences and devise training modules. The role is varied and high-profile.
Candidates for the position will ideally have between 5-7 years in OTC derivatives (preferably Commodity Derivatives) experience, primarily in derivatives operations departments and be regarded as a 'subject matter expert' within their firm. The candidate should also have a thorough understanding of ISDA documentation structure and processes. Applicants will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, be self-motivated and have a desire to facilitate change. In addition the applicant should demonstrate an ability to thrive in an environment with changing priorities, time pressures and multiple dependencies.
The Infrastructure Management Assistant Director will report into the Head of Infrastructure Management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Core Responsibilities
- Arranging and supporting various ISDA Committee and Working Group meetings across all asset classes and the Commodity Derivatives asset class, primarily:
- Commodities Steering Committee
- Commodities Implementation Group, leading on Standardisation, Confirmation and Reporting initiatives for the asset class.
- Project Management Office (PMO) support for various initiatives.
- Assistance with the Standardisation initiatives from a product and process perspective.
- Facilitating industry input to the Commitment Tracking Process.
- Training and supervision of more junior staff, where required.
- Representing ISDA at Industry meetings.
- Liaising with ISDA members for feedback, Committee and Working Group agenda items, and relevant materials.
- Preparing Best Practice Statements, as needed. Contributing to regulatory consultation responses.
- Fostering and maintaining a strong network via outreach to the membership.
- Speaking at various ISDA conferences.
- Helping to organise member events, as needed.
- Coordinating with the ISDA Web Developers to update Committee details on the ISDA website.
- Liaising with members in regard to distribution list changes and updates.
- Coordinating with ISDA staff in regard to ISDA Protocols.
- Providing research assistance on various projects and initiatives.
- Providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries from ISDA members and industry professionals.
- Providing team support for other Infrastructure Management team members.
- Identifying the full range of interests of ISDA members involved within your area of focus, including the areas in which they are not typically involved but may have interest.
- Liaising internally to make sure that member views are brought to the attention of the relevant ISDA staff and addressed in Committee and Working Group processes.
- To demonstrate the highest regard for accuracy, confidentiality and follow-through to secure a continued relationship.
- Taking the lead on and assisting in various industry related projects, as needed.
- Working collaboratively with the ISDA Membership Department to identify and recruit participants in the derivatives industry that are not ISDA members but transact in OTC derivatives.
- Carrying out such other duties as may be required or assigned.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors degree in any specialty, but finance or finance-related preferred.
- Between 5-7 years commodity derivatives experience, preferably from an operations background.
- Proven ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple competing tasks and demands. Previous experience of project management is desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to address issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of member firms.
- Regarded as a ‘subject matter expert’ within the commodities asset class.
- Detail-oriented in composing, typing and proofing materials.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic which demonstrates an appreciation for punctuality, reliability and a desire to achieve results.
- Team-player who contributes to support the broader team and ISDA as a whole.
