Infrastructure Portfolio Manager recruitment
Responsibilities
- Delivery of a portfolio of Infrastructure projects which are either Business Delivery driven or Infrastructure specific. Range of projects will be large and complex to small and simple
- You will be the interface between Direct Line Group Infrastructure, IT teams facing off to the Business, and RBS Technical Services (service provider to Insurance). Key responsibility is to keep work in synch and running to plan in a complicated environment
- Within Technical Services, you will be expected to co-ordinate the production of IT estimates based on designs from the TS Design Team, and subsequent estimates from the TS Estimating Team
- Plan Creator, Owner, and Maintainer, following Methodology processes and guidelines. You will work closely with the Portfolio Project Support team to report progress, risks, and issues to ensure an accurate portfolio view is always available
- Proactive issue and risk management of the full project lifecycle from Inception to Close. You will be expected to follow the Infrastructure Methodology to deliver projects in an organised and prescribed manner
- Management of Infrastructure deployment. You will be expected to plan and co-ordinate go-live activities including communications, resource management and escalation. This may occasionally require weekend working
- Stakeholder and Governance Management, expectation management, and corresponding updates appraising stakeholders of progress, issues, decisions to make
- Representing the project on appropriate steering committees and working groups
- Contributor of Infrastructure components to overall Business Cases and early stage planning
- Ensure all project documentation are updated and maintained to include project initiation documents, project plans, risk and issue logs, change control documents and any other information for the project
The Individual
Business:
- General working knowledge of either one of: Retail banking, Investment banking, or Insurance
- Ability to communicate in language the business analysts and Project Managers understand
- Strong analytical skills to translate business requirements into infrastructure requirements
- Excellent Financial/Budget management and familiar with banking / Insurance financial terms
Technical:
- Excellent recent Infrastructure knowledge of Open System platforms (Unix and Wintel), storage, database, middleware, networking, and systems connectivity.
- Track record in Infrastructure Project Management within highly technical and diverse environments
- Expert level MS Project knowledge and highly proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong project methodology knowledge, either SDLC or Infrastructure specific
