Infrastructure Securities – Product Manager recruitment
Macquarie Funds Group (MFG) is Macquarie Group's funds management business. MFG is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets. The group had $A324 billion in assets under management as at 30 September 2011.
MFG has been managing assets for pension funds, institutions and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US (through Delaware Investments). MFG has global reach, with a team of approximately 1,600 staff in Australia, Asia, the UK, Europe and the US, including US-based subsidiary Delaware Investments. MFG is made up of three Divisions, one of which is Macquarie Investment Management.
The Infrastructure Securities team of Macquarie Investment Management has developed a strong business in a growing investment sector and are currently looking for a Product Manager to service existing clients and help drive the next phase of growth.
The successful applicant will have at least five years experience in the financial services industry from any one of a range of roles including but not limited to a product management or product support role; as an investment writer; as an investment or financial analyst, or in operations / accounting. A strong interest in supporting the investment products of the Infrastructure Securities team through both written material and some quantitative analysis is essential, however we are not seeking a pure quantitative analyst.
In this dynamic and multi-faceted role, you will be responsible for:
- Writing regular investment commentary reports for our investment strategies;
- Developing and maintaining generic, fund specific and pro forma marketing / investment material (including presentations and product flyers) for new existing investment strategies;
- Responding to information requests for new business opportunities;
- Undertaking quantitative tasks, such as calculation of portfolio performance characteristics, analysis of index performance, and use of the FactSet performance system;
- Responding to ad hoc requests for information, including from Distribution colleagues, clients and manager research firms;
- Taking primary responsibility for the preparation of all required investment reporting for a range of funds and portfolios; and
- Over time, developing relationships with select clients in various countries.
To succeed in this role you will:
- Possess strong written verbal communication skills;
- Be able to communicate effectively at all levels;
- Be a team player, willing and able to communicate with colleagues in both Sydney New York;
- Understand the key quantitative concepts of portfolio management;
- Possess strong spreadsheet skills;
- Have an eye for detail and a desire to produce accurate material;
- Have good organisation and time management skills and be able to meet reasonable deadlines;
- Be able to work with limited supervision on multiple tasks;
- Hold tertiary qualifications; and
- Be motivated and have the desire to succeed
- Experience with FactSet is desirable, but not essential (as training will be provided)
