Infrastructure Service Lead UK – Global Asset Management recruitment

The Global AM ISL Organization reports directly to the CIO of Global AM and is represented in major Global AM locations within UBS: London, Chicago, and Zurich. Asia-Pac is managed in conjunction with the regional APAC ISL.

The ISL functions primary focus is the proactive management and optimisation of infrastructure, strategic estate planning, business demand management, reducing cost and driving consistency in technology standards.

This is a broad role involving management of all aspects of technology infrastructure.

Key focus areas include:

- Understanding End User products and services: Managing the introduction of new user-impacting technologies, developing stakeholder relationships and partnering with GTIS EUS to ensure a smooth service support and delivery model.

- Distributed Compute technology management: Developing a detailed understanding of the core compute technologies and infrastructure used to support the Global AM application portfolio.

- Understanding of Service Catalogue products: Establish an in-depth understanding of Service catalog products, roadmaps and future revisions that will impact the Global AM business and/or can be leveraged to enhance end-user productivity or technology experience.

- Financial analysis and management of GCT bill: Detailed understanding of monthly Infrastructure charges and follow-up with finance BUCs on material variances.

- Estate Planning/Management: Maintain the mapping of infrastructure estate to application suites. Plan drive on-going projects to maintain estate currency and efficiency.

As the UK ISL lead you will be required to act as an interface and escalation point for all aspects of infrastructure service relating to End User and Application Compute for the Global AM business, CIO and GTIS organisations.

You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management to develop regular dialogue, solicit feedback and manage the expectations of managers and End Users at all levels (MD, ED, D).

Strong partnerships need to be developed with GTIS Product managers, Service Delivery teams and the development community to ensure appropriate prioritisation of work and timely delivery of both business and infrastructure projects.

You will need to develop a good understanding of GTIS product roadmaps, the Service Catalogue and the Line of business infrastructure bill. The financial awareness in conjunction with Infrastructure strategy and estate analysis will be critical in developing the strategy to optimise the environment, manage infrastructure risks, reduce costs and drive consistency in infrastructure technology standards.

Requirements

Key Toolset Capabilities
• Microsoft Office Toolset, particularly macro level within MS Excel, Power Point and Visio
• Inventory and Demand Planning tools (ISAC, MyDemand Forecast, Estate Manager and Service Now)
• Business Objects reporting knowledge a plus

Functional Capabilities
• A solid understanding of distributed compute server and storage platforms, associated OS, Active Directory structure, clustering and virtualisation technologies (Wintel, Linux, UNIX). Practical experience ideally gained within a Service Delivery environment.
• Good understanding of relational databases specifically SQL Server and Oracle. Experience of the clustering, performance optimisation and archiving/backup techniques deployed is preferable.
• A good understanding of standard middleware components such as web services, citrix, file transfer and job scheduling is required.
• Knowledge of End User and mobility technologies current and future preferred. This would include Win7, Exchange 2007/2010, Lync, collaboration tools.

Key Knowledge Areas That Must be Developed in the Role
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Global AM business, application portfolio and underlying IT infrastructure.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Infrastructure technology product roadmaps.
• Understanding of the fundamental cost drivers and cost components of the Service Catalogue
• Good understanding of the Group Technology billing methodology
• Familiarity with Global AM and GTIS management/governance structure.
