Innovation Fund Project Manager

This is a position with the Innovation Fund for Technology, part of the Innovation and Advanced Technology (IAT) group. IAT identifies, assesses, and makes internal recommendations on new and emerging health care information technologies (HIT)and trends, and their potential impact on KP's IT infrastructure and applications. One of IAT's programs is the Innovation Fund for Technology, a multi-million dollar fund to support novel ideas at Kaiser. The Fund's projects are all proof-of-concept or pilot projects. This is not your typically IT PM role. Innovation Fund projects require balance (managing expectations around project's limited scope and expected outcomes), agility, and flexibility. Our projects are IT focused, with innovators that are most often not from IT (including doctors, nurses and business leaders). We look for PM's that are creative problem solvers, team builders, collaborators, keepers of the vision, translators (that can translate terminology and lingo from business and IT worlds so that all players can understand. We are looking for someone who can understand the technology and ramifications of technology decisions, while also getting comfortable with the business problem that will be addressed by the new technology (whether that be clinical, business or IT focused). The project manager will be responsible for managing multiple small projects (proof of concepts or pilots), ensuring projects stay within scope, deliver results/learnings on schedule, and stay within budget. Some projects are expected to fail, or not continue into production. Essential Functions - Manage multiple small projects (proof of concepts or pilots) - Establishes project charter and plan - Provide monthly status updates to Innovation Fund - Communicate to key stakeholders on project status and other relevant issues of interest and influence to their business areas - Document IT and business requirements, including tech assessments, future vision, etc - Develop and control budgets Qualifications: Basic Qualifications - Minimum of5 years of Project Management experience - Strong IT background - Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills - 4-year degree in related field or 4 additional years of equivalent work experience
