Inpatient Coder – Full

A summary of the specific skills, knowledge and behaviors of this position are: knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The ability to retrieve, communicate, or otherwise present information in writen, auditory, or visual fashion is essential. The methods used to express or exchange ideas are by spoken or written word. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are also required.
EDUCATION: Associate Degree in Health Information
Management or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Possess in-depth knowledge of medical record
content and sequence; In-depth knowledge of
coding/classification systems apprriate for coding
inpatient records. Should be knowledgeable of
use of coding softward.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Registered Health Information
Technician (RHIT), Registered Health
Information Administrator (RHIA), and/or
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Or possess
equivalent training in coding systems, advanced
medical and anatomical terminology, clinical
medicine theory, and reimbursement principles.
