Inside Janitorial Sales

NATURE OF POSITION: The Inside Sales Janitorial Representative is responsible for working closely with an assigned team of Janitorial Specialists to manage and profitably grow Airgas East business. The candidate will be required to meet or exceed Area objectives for sales growth and profitability growth within the assigned territory. The candidate will need to have the ability to effectively sell Airgas janitorial and sanitation (jan/san) products to his/her customer base.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Work within Team Sales Concept to maintain and grow the existing customer base, including:
o Maximize account retention through proactive and frequent customer contacts and rapport development
o Become a primary resource to other Airgas associates for jan/san market information, pricing strategies, product information or customer information
o Respond to and solve customer complaints by deploying the necessary company resources
o Establish and maintain clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments relative to customer successes, customer failures, new customer developments and other customer specific information
* Collaborate and strategize with Janitorial Specialists in developing and executing plans to improve Airgas market share within the assigned sales territory, including:
o Identify, qualify and pursue prospective customers that are new to the territory or currently buying products through competitors
o Prepare effective sales quotes and proposals to prospective customers that focus on applying Airgas services, products, and other resources to customer businesses
o Coordinate with Airgas purchasing group to secure best pricing and freight terms. Monitor customer orders for opportunities to obtain quantity breaks and preferred shipping from vendors
o Provide product samples, specifications, and literature to customers and prospects as needed
o Provide immediate response to sales opportunities as well as timely follow-up
o Qualify and pursue sales leads from other parts of the Airgas organization, Airgas marketing sources and vendor marketing sources
* Maintain a leadership role in the Customer Service Center through:
o Open and honest communication with all Airgas associates
o Internalize and focus on EPA goals and objectives
o Maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude with all Airgas associates, customers, vendors and other Airgas business partners
o Work closely with local Branch managers to assist in promoting sales and customer management through retail store locations within assigned geographical area
* Develop and maintain positive work habits that are conducive to sales and profitability growth, including:
o Strategizing daily with assigned Janitorial Specialists and completing required field visits with each
o Achieving department goals on phone time, outbound calls, and other key performance indicators
* Maintain focus on safety in the workplace through:
o Complying with company safety procedures and practices
o Assisting customers in their compliance and training with industry safety standards relating to the products and services that Airgas delivers
* Execute other tasks as may be assigned by sales management or executive management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Bachelor's degree preferred, combination of relevant training and work experience considered
* Two years experience selling janitorial and sanitation products preferred
* Strong ability to build and maintain rapport with internal and external customers
* Strong phone selling skills

* Strong time and task management skills

* Good computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
