 GENERAL SUMMARY

The inside salesperson’s primary responsibility is to sell products and render prompt and courteous service to customers over the telephone and in person. The inside salesperson must also support outside sales activity and work with all company personnel to ensure quality customer service.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.              Prepare accurate and timely quotations on specific jobs as requested by customers and outside salespeople.

 

2.              Provide pricing, product, product substitution, delivery, back-order and warranty information as requested.

 

3.              Handle special orders and non-stock item orders.

 

4.              Coordinate the return of merchandise with customers and warehouse staff.

 

5.                  Prepare quotes for quantity orders, in writing if requested, and prepare submittal forms tailored to each customer’s needs.

 

6.                  Inform customers of promotions and quantity purchase prices.

 

7.                  Keep abreast of new products and apply knowledge of product usage in selling additional materials to the customer consistent with job specifications. Continually work toward achieving familiarity with entire product base.

 

8.                  Investigate and resolve, if possible, customer inquiries and complaints.

 

9.                  Maintain a consistent and positive customer service image when interacting with customers.

 

10.             Coordinate sales activity with shipping and credit departments.

 

11.             Keep catalogs and price lists up-to-date.

 

12.             Assist in training new sales personnel and attend company meetings as requested.

 

13.             Support sales activity in all other areas as needed, including outside sales staff, counter sales and showroom sales.

 

 

14.             Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.

 

15.             The inside salesperson may become involved with such other duties as the company/complex manager may, from time to time, deem necessary.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·                     Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to effectively handle customers and vendors in a positive, service-oriented fashion.

 

·                     Effective communication and organizational skills.

 

·                     Education and/or experience in industry necessary to operate as explained above.

 

·                     High degree of math competency and ability to maintain arithmetic and statistical accuracy.

 

·                     Ability to set priorities and work under minimal supervision.

 

·                     Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
