INSTITUTIONAL PORTFOLIO MANAGER

The role

My client, a multinational wealth fund with interests across the global markets, across a variety of sectors and geographies is seeking a robust Portfolio Manager to join the firm.

Their strategy is to assemble a concentrated portfolio of unrelated securities reflecting the broad nature of investment opportunities to which they are exposed. Whilst risk management at the portfolio level will address concentration of themes, sectors and regions, investment ideas are considered for their own intrinsic characteristics rather than within a portfolio context.

Reporting into the Chief Investment Officer, the Portfolio Manager is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, selecting and monitoring special one-off investments globally. These investments will be placed both directly and through managed funds. You are responsible for maximising the rate of return on investments within agreed risk parameters and defined benchmarks. Leading a team dedicated to investigate, evaluate and implement these investment opportunities, whilst taking ownership of all reviews and commentary on the performance of investment portfolios and on all recommendations presented to the board. The portfolio manager will be capable of reviewing financial investment information, briefs, periodicals and international organisations' country or topic research articles.

You:

An outstanding academic background augmented with a CFA or MBA, coupled with 15+ years of demonstrable success in evaluating investment opportunities across different sectors, industries and geographies in mature global markets.

Outstanding analytical and risk management skills, you are an expert principal investor who adopts a hands-on approach to institutional portfolio management. An understanding of different fund management approaches along with PL management, legal knowledge and an excellent leader of people is highly sought.
