Institutional Securities Trading Manager

Wells Capital Management (WellsCap) is a multi-boutique, asset management firm focused on institutional clients. Our diverse and autonomous teams provide a broad range of investment solutions across multiple asset classes and investment styles within three main categories: equity, fixed income, and quantitative. The Sutter High Yield team is seeking an Institutional Trading Manager. The successful candidate will have management responsibilities. The position is based in San Francisco, CA. Duties include but not limited to: - Independently or in conjunction with senior analysts the trading and analysis on high yield investments; including a strong understanding of how credit is evaluated and priced. - Direct experience of trading high yield bonds or similar markets; including a familiarity with basic system development and design understanding of the infrastructure around trade execution and risk management systems for the portfolio. - Providing alpha-generating relative value decisions within and across sectors. - Developing and maintaining relationships with dealer counterparties. - Candidate will work alongside portfolio managers in communicating and executing investment strategies. - Managing multiple tasks at one time; while remaining focused in fast paced environment. - Demonstrating outstanding communication, flexibility, teamwork and leadership across all levels of WellsCap and its affiliates. - Demonstrating independent, sound decision making which reflects an understanding of our business and its priorities. Basic Qualifications: 10+ years trading experience. Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced and high pressure environment; ability to multi-task and prioritize duties; strong attention to trading detail; strong computer skills. - 5+ years of high yield experience. - Excellent quantitative and communication skills and experience with industry standard models. - Ability to function independently and hit the ground running in a high-impact position. - Rigorous attention to data accuracy and the ability to initiate and complete projects independently. - Exceptional mathematical, conceptual, analytical, written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Skills: - BA/BS in Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or Finance. - Progress towards a CFA. - Proficient in Excel, Word, Bloomberg and other fixed income investment systems.
