Position Responsibilities
This position will provide planning, instructional design and course development expertise to support technology-based learning. Qualified candidates must have experience in planning, developing and implementing technology-based learning within the higher education industry. The candidate must have a solid understanding of best practices in blended and online education including learning theory, delivery models, technology tools, infrastructure, quality control and metrics.
Supports issues related to faculty and staff utilization of Blackboard CE8 course management system.
Supports faculty members with the integration of technology into teaching and learning.
Support issues related to faculty and staff utilization of web conferencing platforms, specifically Saba Centra.
Designs, develops and delivers training materials for faculty and staff.
Conducts one-on-one consultations with faculty in regards to best practices, online course design and technology training/needs.
Stays up-to-date on emerging technologies, trends related to e-learning, and developments with course management products.
Participates in technology related committees and serves as a consultant to university technology interest groups, grant projects and initiatives.
Stays up-to-date on emerging technologies, trends related to e-learning, and changes coming with major software tools such as MS Office.
Works collaboratively with faculty to improve student learning using Instructional Design principles including, but not limited to:
a. Assessment of teaching practices and technological needs
b. Maintain faculty progress through benchmarking standards
c. Design and development of appropriate instructional materials
Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited four year institution, Masters Degree in Instructional Technology/Design preferred; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong skills in building and maintaining stable working relationships with faculty and staff.
Strong skills in facilitation, training, teaching, negotiation, and consulting within an academic environment.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with IT staff and develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Strong experience with Blackboard CE8 (WebCT) or other course management system.
Strong skills with MS Office products, graphic and video editing software, Captivate, Adobe Dreamweaver and HTML.
Knowledge of and interest in Web 2.0, social networking and emerging technologies and how they can be used to enhance the learning experience.
General knowledge of hardware, network, computer lab configuration, and other basic information technology services.
Excellent interpersonal, project management and written and verbal communication skills.
Well-developed customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships.
Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
Knowledge of multimedia instructional technologies and synchronous and asynchronous instructional strategies.
Familiarity with Quality Matters Rubric.
BlackBoard CE8 administration skills.
Mastery of Adobe Acrobat, Presenter, Captivate, Course Management Systems, Adobe Connect, Audacity, Macromedia Flash, Photoshop or related applications.
Experience delivering synchronous training online via WebEx, GoToMeeting, Wimba, Elluminate or a similar synchronous delivery tool.
