Instructional Designer Job in Denver, Colorado Us

Established, ten-year old, national technical training company is looking for an instructional designer who can work with a variety of subject matter experts in the field of industrial and facility maintenance, and help them convert their expertise into professional presentations for live training.

 

The person selected for this job must have excellent communication skills and possess instructional design experience in technical disciplines such as industrial electricity, HVAC, pumps, hydraulics, and other industrial and facility maintenance related topics.  They will be responsible for everything from creating PowerPoint presentations to helping instructors improve their overall classroom performance.  The person hired for this position will be responsible for keeping all presentations up to date and professional looking, will disseminate changes in content to instructors, will help instructors create individual workbooks, will edit and create study guides for our students, will keep hands-on training equipment repaired and in working condition, and may occasionally be asked to write technical articles for industry magazines. Ability to efficiently and professionally create drawings, charts and other illustrations for use in PowerPoint and printed material is an absolute must.

 

Our instructors are made up of dozens of employee and contract individuals with average experience of 30+ years in industry.  Many do not possess the knowledge and skills required to put together professional looking presentations. Others may have the skills but do not have the time while traveling and teaching up to 40 weeks per year. Our company will conduct over 1,500 live training seminars in 2012 on more than 15 different topics.  Because of these factors the person hired for this job must be highly organized, energetic, prolific, and be able to work with a variety of strong instructor personalities.

 

Our students use their hands in their jobs to keep plants and buildings up and running.  They perform maintenance tasks at large and small manufacturing companies, hospitals, office buildings, schools and universities, water and sanitation plants, mines, oil refineries, transportation companies, and for Federal, State and Local governments including the military.  They hold a variety of titles from journeyman electricians, general maintenance technicians and HVAC technicians to stationary engineers, design engineers, and facility and plant managers.  Many of our classes include Hands-On training exercises, so knowledge of basic equipment used in industry is a must for this job.

 

The person selected for this position will enjoy a small, professional, and relatively quiet office environment working in the south metro area of Denver while 90% of our company’s work is conducted in various other locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. 

 

This is a full time position and the person selected for this job is expected to work out of the Denver office.  Compensation is competitive but depends on experience and fit for job.  Benefits include health, vision, dental, disability and life insurance, 401k savings account, paid vacation, paid floating holidays, paid sick time, and employee bonuses.  For the right person this opportunity could grow into a supervisory or managerial role.
