Instrument Engineer Job in Charleston 25301, West Virginia Us

Instrument and control engineers are responsible for designing and maintaining equipment that monitors and controls engineering systems, machinery and processes.

Duties
Typical tasks involve developing new control systems, solving system problems, specifying instruments in accordance to client standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and developing new discipline scopes and estimates and working in a team environment with other design disciplines.

Education
An electrical or electronics engineering degree with courses covering instrument and control engineering are required.

Skills
To be successful as an instrument and control engineer, you need a minumum10 years of experience in petrochemical, refinery, and natural gas facilities, creative problem-solving skills, strong critical thinking skills, good communication skills, a high attention to detail, a can-do attitude and team building skills, and client relations skills. Programming skills in Allen Bradley PLC, Delta V, and Siemens is a plus. P.E. preferred. Must be a self-starter.

Work Conditions
Ability to work in an office, client facility or plant environment. Must be able to deal with unexpected emergencies. Visiting clients and working on-site is common. Must have the ability to deal with deadlines and budget concerns.
