SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, implementing and managing of an efficient Instrument Management system process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement a schedule for refurbishment of existing instrument sets prioritize schedule based on instrument set content and usage using repair/refurbish guidelines. This includes all surgery grade instruments regardless of vendor, except as specified by customer (e.g. warranted products), if applicable
• Organize and maintain a system for sending out and receiving repairs
• Support and maintain the instacount PLUS software database. Train designated hospital staff in the systems functionality
• Implement bar code, images and set tracking system network, if applicable
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Requires ability to problem solve and communicate findings effectively
• Assist with product evaluations ensuring best pricing for the customer
• Assist with in-service of new products to Sterile Processing Staff
• Must be able to communicate with all levels of management both internally and externally
• Must be able to follow detailed instruction with minimal supervision
• Must be detail-oriented, with ability to identify and correct errors
• Must be team oriented
• Must be capable of working well under pressure and deadlines
• Performs special projects as assigned
• Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in validation of standard instrument patterns by service, by set to minimize variation of instrument patterns or vendors, with exceptions to be based on clinical requirements and financial impact
• Work with OR Team Leaders to streamline, standardize and coordinate the contents of sets to accomplish continuous improvement of the quality of the contents and assembly of all sets
• Performs utilization and benchmarking studies as assigned
• Attend hospital specific orientation program
• Must possess excellent organization and inter-personal skills
• Must be able to communicate with all levels of management both internally and externally
• Requires command of the English language with excellent verbal/phone and written communication skills
• Demonstrate excellent analytical skills
• Requires ability to learn new tasks and be accountable for projects
• Requires working knowledge of PC, specifically Windows and Microsoft Office products
• Must be able to travel by car, plane or train throughout the United States
• Must be able to work weekends

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Requires 3-5 years previous experience in Surgical/Sterile Processing
• Experience in materials and case cart management preferred
• AA degree preferred
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS; REASONING ABILITY:
Language Skill: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
