The Instrumentation / Electrical Technician will be responsible for the following:
- Responsible for specification, installation, testing repair of all types of electrical electronic equipment used in the operation of crude refined products pipelines.
- This equipment includes, but is not limited to, pumps, motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, flow computers programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Technicians will be required to specify, install program all types of PLC, flow computer other metering communication equipment.
- Other operational responsibilities will include line locating, measurements, regulatory equipment inspections, and other duties required for daily pipeline operations.
- Compliance documentation responsibilities will require computer work.
- Technicians work with little supervision in remote areas.
- They must be able to solve problems with little or no outside input.
- Job planning is critical to success in the field.
- Responsible for meeting the performance training requirements as set by local and federal agencies.
- Technicians will be required to perform operations duties including but not limited to station walk throughs and line locating.
- Must be actively involved in the Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs.
- Technicians have to anticipate problems that might arise plan for them before leaving for the job site.
Requirements:
- 12 months experience working on all types of industrial electrical and electronic equipment including but not limited to motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, flow computers and PLC equipment.
- 12 months experience with electrical troubleshooting, including ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to understand and apply the National Electrical Code
- 12 months experience in electrical safety
- General electrical Skills (AC/DC Voltages)
- General mechanical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license.
- Computer skills, specifically the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and ability to learn to use proprietary databases.
- High School diploma (or equivalent) plus either a 2 Year Technical (Electrical) Degree or 2 years of relevant field experience.
Preferred:
- 6 months experience with Management of Change documentation.
- 3 years Liquid pipeline field technician experience.
- 6 months experience with Omni Flow Computers and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- OSHA and NFPA 70E experience
- 4 Year Technical (Electrical) degree
Other Considerations:
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fire retardant clothing, heeled safety toed boots, etc.).
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Ability to work in hot, cold or inclement climate conditions (outdoor conditions)
- Up to 30% travel required, including overnight travel
- Must be able to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response
- Must be able to be in a rotational on-call status
- Position requires the ability to wear respirator and to pass a respirator fit test.
- Ability to climb and gauge storage tanks greater than 40' in height.
- Walking and climbing of ladders or stairs is required
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Must have the ability to respond within 30 minutes of assets.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT drug screen, and pre-hire
