Insurance Administrator
DCBS is looking for a dynamic leader for the Insurance Division. The successful candidate will lead a complex regulatory organization with multiple programs (the Division regulates 1,600 insurance companies and 67,000 agents in Oregon). This position serves as the chief representative and spokesperson for the Insurance Division to its multiple stakeholder organizations, the legislature, the public at large, and relevant government agencies and represents Oregon at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and in other national forums. The Administrator manages, along with a deputy, approximately 110 employees (union and non-union) and a biennial budget of approximately $21 million.
The Department/Division:
The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting consumers and workers in the State of Oregon.
This position is with the Insurance Division, and is responsible for protecting the public's interests by ensuring the financial soundness of insurers, the availability and affordability of insurance, and fair treatment of policyholders and claimants while maintaining a positive business climate.

Visitors can experience the wonders of the ocean by exploring tide pools or joining whale watchers during the whales' twice-yearly migration or view the sea life up close at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Qualifications:
® six years of professional leadership experience, including use of strategic and analytical skills, as well as implementation capabilities.
The six years or more experience must demonstrate the ability to:
Be strategically oriented, able to evaluate and access the impact of strategic issues across complex, diversified divisional units, while serving the needs of the consumer and regulated businesses;
Understand and add value to high-level management interactions, working as part of a management team;
Build consensus among, motivate, and collaborate with employees, advocates, industry representatives, legislators and other significant stakeholders (the ability to work and deal with a diversity of views and opinions is crucial);
Act as a policy advocate for the Division; and
Possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of the insurance industry, its structure and its stakeholders.

Salary Benefits:
Salary $79,956 to $117,756 annually, plus benefits.
