As the Insurance Audit Manager you will manage a portfolio of insurance sector clients and carry out work to a high technical standard in a commercially beneficial manner. You will lead a dedicated team, managing, organising and deploying staff on assignments as necessary. You will also be associated in structuring and growing the team. You will seek and convert opportunities to develop the insurance practice, providing additional expertise to widen our offered services, and be part of a dynamic team with ambitious objectives.

The role:
* To manage a portfolio of insurance sector clients.
* To be part of the management team and develop the client portfolio.
* To manage all aspects of a client portfolio; including client service and technical excellence and engagement management - budgeting, negotiating, billing and recovery.
* To effectively deploy staff on assignments.
* To be involved in operational advisory assignments, such as process transformation and project management, internal audit, operational performance review, risk measurement and controls.
* Driving efficiency and effectiveness of the audit process throughout the team.
* Ensures fees are collected in a timely manner, following up with clients as necessary.

Essential skills and experience:
* Demonstrable track record of client service and technical - accounting and auditing - excellence.
* Qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA or equivalent (essential).
* Previous insurance experience required.
* Experience of the London insurance market desirable, including audits of entities within Lloyd's, Insurance Returns ('FSA returns'), insurance intermediary client money, etc.
* Thorough understanding of existing International Standards on Auditing and their application to the audits of medium and/or large entity audit engagements.
* Experience in supervising medium and/or large audit entities, applying a predominantly controls-based audit approach.
* Act as a role model setting high standards of quality and demonstrating commitment to self development.
* Communicates team goals with clarity, sets clear objectives for team members that are aligned to business plans and monitors and assesses performance, providing timely feedback and support as necessary.
* Effectively recruits, promotes and develops talent within the team, ensuring equal opportunities and providing feedback.
* Contributes to the development of new initiatives and proposes appropriate approaches to problems.
* Maintains and applies an up-to-date knowledge of the firm's risk management policies and operational procedures and ensures team adherence to these.
* Ensures client expectations and issues are understood, developing collaborative relationships and taking action to break down 'silo barriers'.
* Selects, analyses and presents information to enable effective decision making and effectively communication results.
* Demonstrates a commitment to change, implementing and leading change projects within the team, where relevant.
* Promotes the firm's values and beliefs, demonstrating integrity and maintaining an ethical stance, using flexibility and tact to express views as necessary.
