Job Description:

The Team

KPMG’s UK Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) Group is the only such dedicated IPT team in the Big 4. They are part of the wider market leading Financial Services Group in indirect tax offering leading edge, innovative advisory services to a wide range of clients. This group also offers specialist advisory services across Insurance VAT, Fund Management and Banking and benefits from a deep knowledge base in this area.

The IPT Team provides national and international coverage and has continued to see steady growth despite prevailing economic conditions. They are now at a pivotal growth point and are seeking to build on their existing talent through the appointment of a highly ambitious and energetic Manager to help further develop the business. A specialist knowledge of IPT and the insurance industry would be preferable, but not essential as training will be given.

Whilst the position is within the FS practice, opportunities will be available to work on a broader industry base as IPT affects all clients. The team has a variety of workstreams including:

o Global advisory, including a major project for a global corporate insurer that has been in progress for over 5 years

o UK advisory

o Compliance reviews

o Audit assists; and

o Global compliance

The Responsibilities

The Manager works as part of a team with the responsibility for the providing KPMG's IPT services to allocated clients. Whilst a key measurable will be delivery of service there is a real emphasis on working closely with clients to developing and implement innovative solutions and the ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a real desire to work in this way. Team leadership and development is also key to the role.

Responsibilities include:

- Helping to drive the IPT business forward, particularly in relation to the current UK drive in four key insurance intermediary sectors (Telecoms, Banking, Retailers and Automotive).
- Establishing, maintaining and developing strong relationships with clients and helping team leader develop internal relationships.
- Being the main contact for allocated clients
- Ensuring clients are provided with up to date information on IPT developments.
- Helping to advise clients on all IPT issues.
- Contributing to client service teams, helping ensure they function smoothly and effectively.
Working with senior staff to ensure the account management process is properly planned and controlled.
- Working with premier clients, all major insurers, insurance intermediaries and insureds.
- Participating in, and contributing to, the European IPT Group

The Person

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in this leading team. You will be an energetic self starter who has proven team leadership skills and who enjoys the challenge and variety of working in a fast paced advisory environment. Specific requirements for this role include:

- Highly motivated individual keen to help shape and drive the direction of the IPT business
- Proven experience of dealing directly with businesses.
- Possessing sound judgment, including the ability to identify risk issues, knowing when to involve more senior staff etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (internally and externally).
- Ability to deliver quality work to agreed deadlines.
- A detailed knowledge of the intricacies of IPT, the insurance sector and some VAT and/or VAT insurance related experience are preferred but not essential as training will be given.
- Professional qualifications, whilst beneficial, are not essential for the role.
