Our Client, a major independent European Insurance group are looking to hire an Insurance Underwriter to join their Personal Lines Team.
The Role
- Dealing with enquiries from policyholders, potential policyholders, police, and MIB.
- Arranging underwriting meetings and following up with minutes, ensuring action points are carried out etc.
- Day to day administration of the various motor schemes;
- Assist with setting and approval of new rates and conditions
- Assist in the reviewing of the various motor schemes that we currently write and ensure all are running profitably – monitor premium levels, claims ratios etc;
- Use the MI to see whether we can resolve potential issues on underwriting and claims.
- Prepare from scratch any new policy wordings required and any amendments to existing wordings – also ‘own’ and keep control of all the policy wordings in circulation.
- Prepare all company secretarial minutes and resolutions and keep company books up to date.
- Prepare board packs for issue in good time, which will involve preparing some of the content.
- Prepare all company secretarial minutes and resolutions
- Act as compliance officer
- Build relationships with reinsurers and supply information as required.
- Prepare annual reinsurance renewal pack and also help with preparation of presentations to reinsurers at Gib week and other events.
- Assist with assessing viability of potential new business;
- Assist in the implementation of new lines of business, and working on own initiative when required;
- Reviewing, drafting and renewal of necessary legal agreements and insurance and reinsurance documentation for new and existing schemes;
- Deal with correspondence from and develop relationship with the Gibraltar FSC.
- Assist with any new licence extensions;
- Research and updates on FSC, FSA and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- On site audits of intermediaries and claims management operation.
- Handling any relevant complaints and keeping a complaint log up to date
- Assist us in our task of working ‘on the business’ to make it a better and more successful company and group.
- Assist in the reviewing of the various insurance schemes that we currently write and ensure all are running profitably – monitor premium levels, claims ratios etc;
- Build relationships with all our business partners and develop a good understanding of their business;
- Assist with assessing viability of potential new business;
- Assist in the implementation of new lines of business, and working on own initiative when required;
- Reviewing, drafting and renewal of necessary legal agreements and insurance and reinsurance documentation for new and existing schemes;
- Deal with correspondence from and develop relationship with the Gibraltar FSC, also ensuring smooth notification process for new classes, territories etc;
- Assist with any new licence applications or extensions;
- Audits of the various business partners.
The Candidate
- Strong insurance based knowledge with previous experience of retail products.
- Strong operational capabilities and excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Good report writing and financial analysis skills
- Good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise tasks
- Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
- Must have an insurance based third level degree
