Bestica, nation's leading User Experience staffing firm is seeking an Interaction Designer/Information Architect for our client based in Cary, NC.
The Information Architect will be responsible for providing thought and design leadership by employing user-centered design principles to solve business related problems. On a daily basis, the UXD/IA will participate in cross-functional teams made up of other designers and developers, as well as business analysts, product owners and technical leads to provide an innovative and intuitive experience for internal and external clients.
This role is ultimately responsible for developing and communicating detailed design specifications throughout all stages of the product design and development process. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of information design, user interaction models, and user interface best practices and will be an exceptionally detail oriented individual who is comfortable working in lean UX/Agile design and development environment.
Responsibilities:
- Define product information architecture and navigation rules that serve as a blueprint upon which all other aspects are built
- Create and deliver right-fidelity workflows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, site maps, process maps, feature lists, mockups, and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience
- Present and defend design decisions with cross-functional team members in order to gain buy-in
- Turn complex interactions into simple user interfaces with an understanding of the implications of design decisions on overall site systems and experiences
- Help design and implement site standards and interaction frameworks
- Determine the business functions and how they apply to the customers
- Work on multiple project deliverables and deadlines simultaneously
Education/Experience:
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a concentration in industrial design, information design, human computer interaction, psychology, library sciences, etc.
- Graduate degree preferred
- 6+ years as an Information Architect and/or Interaction Designer with additional related experience preferred
- Clean visual design sense with a strong understanding of typography and color and its relationship to usability
- Significant experience working on complex web and/or mobile design and development projects
- Proven experience in a leadership role
- Experience utilizing user research and translating it into design decisions
- Ability to express optimal experiences measured in terms of usability, intuitiveness, consistency, business metrics, and time to market
Proficient with the following tools and applications:
- Balsamiq/Omnigraffle
- Adobe CS5 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver)
- HTML 5 (able to code a lo-fi prototype)
- CSS Frameworks (960.Client, Foundation, Blueprint)
- JavaScript Frameworks (jQuery, Prototype, MooTools)
- Cross browser functionality and compatibility
- VerifyApp, NotableApp, InvisionApp
- Site path analysis tools (Omniture, Tealeaf, Google Analytics)
