The Aladdin trading and risk management system, used internally at BlackRock and by BlackRock Solutions clients, enables customers to manage over $5 trillion in financial assets. Aladdin is central to our technology strategy, unifying BlackRock by providing everyone with a common language and a central point of reference for our investment activities globally.

 

The Aladdin and Application Engineering teams within the Aladdin Technology group use the latest technologies to design and develop applications that make up the firm's investment management platform. The systems support the full lifecycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing and settlement.

 

Team Overview:

 

The Distribution Solutions (DS) team's mission is to enable our distribution capabilities and drive client engagement through technology, information design, and process improvements that deliver our products, services, and brand promise to customers and prospects. More specifically the DS team creates and drives the vision, strategic development, implementation, and on-going support of Web, CRM Applications / tools across BlackRock businesses and regions. This team also manages client information and reporting systems and ensures reliable efficient management and access to those.
 
Objective:

 

BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm, is seeking an junior-level Interaction Designer for its Distribution Services team. This role is based in Princeton, NJ, and reports to the local Design Lead as part of the Global User Experience team. The Designer will work in a highly collaborative environment to design front-end user interfaces, create prototypes, functional specs, flow charts and schematics for BlackRock's suite of websites and mobile apps. Acting as the 'users advocate', the Designer will be responsible for helping to drive positive, rewarding experiences supporting conceptual development, the iterative interaction design processes, and user testing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Participate in product definition and strategy process.
Translate stakeholder objectives and business requirements into conceptual and visual solutions.
Partner with User Experience and Marketing team members to conduct user research and testing.
Create wireframes and interactive prototypes to represent front-end content/information architecture and interaction design.
Partner with Visual Designers to ensure consistent approach in brand standards.
Collaborate with team members, developers and third parties to ensure the integrity of the interaction is maintained throughout the project cycle.
Support quality assurance testing process.

Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Interactive Media or related field required
Minimum 1 years web design in a corporate or agency environment required
Passionate about designing intuitive, innovative user interactions
Proficient knowledge of relevant design programs tools including but not limited to PhotoShop, Illustrator, HTML, XML, CSS
Working knowledge of prototyping tools, Axure preferred
Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills
The ability to multi-task and deliver under aggressive deadlines
The ability to work in a collaborative environment.
