Intermediate Geologist

 

Design group is seeking an Intermediate Geologist on behalf of a Calgary based, private junior producer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       This position will be primarily responsible for managing the development of a core area in central Alberta over the next 18-24 months.

·       Selection of drilling locations.

·       Provide geological support during reserves evaluation.

·       Preparation government applications such as continuations, logging waivers and holdings.

·       Generation of economically attractive exploration prospects in specified geographical areas.

·       Participate in the development and execution of a long term growth strategy.

·       Develop opportunities using sound geologic and geophysical principles enabling the most recent technologies available.

·       Develop prospects using wireline logs, cross-sections, and geological maps.

·       Assisting the Engineering group with drilling plans, completion programs, and economic evaluations.

·       Monitor competitor activity and emerging opportunities.

·       Assisting with annual capital budgeting, forecasting and effectively presenting these plans to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Proficiency in both oral and written communication skills.

·       Must be a self-starter who works well under minimal supervision.

·       5 - 10 years related WCSB oil and gas experience, ideally focused on Alberta properties.

·       Member or eligible for membership in APEGGA.

·       Proven track record of adding significant oil and gas reserves on their own internally generated prospects.

·       Exposure to properties with both vertical and horizontal and drilling operations.

·       Familiarity with current oil and gas exploration software, ideally IHS applications and Accumap.

·       Experience with Petra and 2D and 3D seismic software is a must.
